The project prioritized collaboration with Indigenous partners and communities to authentically represent their voices and perspectives. Kyla worked closely with Indigenous communities across Vancouver Island, fostering relationships with entrepreneurs committed to cultural preservation, economic development, and sustainable tourism practices, ensuring a diverse range of experiences in each episode.

Success and Impact

Since its launch in January 2023, Indigenous Voices of Vancouver Island has received overwhelmingly positive feedback. With over 14,000 radio listeners in 25 countries and more than 2,500 podcast downloads, the series has surpassed expectations, resonating with audiences worldwide.

Future Plans

The podcast’s success has secured funding for a second season, which will spotlight community-led initiatives and feature interviews with First Nations leaders across the island. This continuation aims to further raise awareness, strengthen cultural connections, and garner support for Indigenous businesses.
